About Our Dimensional Services

Dimensional calibration is the backbone of manufacturing quality control. We service a wide array of equipment, from hand tools like calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to complex systems like Optical Comparators, Vision Systems and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). We also calibrate fixed gauges such as plain ring and plug gauges. Our goal is to ensure that your instruments measure length, width, depth, and geometry with absolute certainty, reducing scrap and rework in your production line.

Why Choose our Dimensional Calibration Services

We possess the specialized equipment and environmental controls necessary for high-precision dimensional work.

  • Comprehensive Coverage: Hand tools to automated CMMs.

  • Wear Analysis: We inspect gauge condition, not just accuracy.

  • Tight Tolerances: Capabilities to verify high-precision engineering tools.

  • Detailed Reporting: Certificates show "As Found" and "As Left" data.

Our Calibration Process

Our process starts with thorough cleaning and deburring of the instrument’s measuring faces. We inspect for damage and check the operation of the device. Using Grade-0 gauge blocks or laser interferometry, we verify measurements across the tool's full range to detect linearity errors.

Our dimensional laboratory is outfitted to support a vast range of precision measurement categories. We provide ISO-compliant calibration for the following:

  • Calipers
  • Coating Thickness Gages
  • Crimpers
  • Cylindrical – Disc, Plug & Pin Gages
  • Depth Micrometers/Depth Gages
  • Depth Step Gages
  • Electronic Indicator Analog Amplifier
  • Height Gages (Vernier/Dial/Digital)
  • Indicator Calibrators (Mic Head Type)
  • ID/OD Comparator
  • Indicators/LVDT’s
  • Laser Micrometer
  • Levels – Bubble, Digital, Differential
  • Micrometers - Groove, Inside, Depth
  • Optical Comparators
  • Pi Tape
  • Protractor
  • Bevel - Digital
  • Radius Gages
  • Screw Thread Micrometer
  • Steel Rulers/Steel Tapes
  • Surface Plates – Flatness & Repeatability
  • Thickness Feeler Gages

Environmental Stabilization Protocols

Dimensional accuracy is highly sensitive to temperature fluctuations. Because materials like steel and aluminum expand and contract differently, our calibration technicians ensure conditions are appropriate for the perfromance tests, maintaining a strictly controlled laboratory, before and during the calibration, where it is required. Every instrument undergoes a mandatory thermal soak period to reach equilibrium before testing begins, ensuring the data we provide is consistent and scientifically valid.

NIST-Traceable Documentation

Every calibration performed by DynaCal is backed by a certificate of calibration that establishes a clear, unbroken chain of traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The industry standard for TUR is 4:1, we strive to achieve for a TUR of 5:1. A 5:1 TUR generally maintains a Probability of False Acceptance (PFA) well within the commonly required < 2% limit, often keeping it below 1%. A TUR of 5:1, means the measurement standard is five times more accurate than the tolerance of the device under test. This high ratio makes the likelihood of misclassifying a good product as bad ("false reject" or "pass/reject condition") quite low. Our documentation is designed to satisfy the most rigorous audit requirements, providing you with technical paper trail necessary for ISO 9001, ISO10012, AS9100, and ISO/IEC 17025 compliance and accreditation bodies requirements.

Advanced Thread and Hard Gauging

Fixed-limit gauging, such as thread plugs and rings, requires specialized expertise to verify pitch diameters and flank angles. We utilize the Three-Wire Method and high-accuracy master setting plugs to ensure your Go/No-Go gages are functioning within their specified class of fit. This prevents the acceptance of out-of-tolerance parts that could lead to assembly failures in the field.

On-Site Surface Plate Resurfacing

The surface plate is the foundation of your inspection lab. Over time, repetitive use in specific areas creates valleys that compromise measurement integrity. DynaCal provides on-site flatness testing and repeatability mapping. If wear is detected, our technicians can perform precision lapping and resurfacing to return your plate to Grade A or Grade B specifications without the need for expensive shipping.

Measurement Uncertainty Analysis

In high-precision manufacturing, knowing the margin of error is just as important as the measurement itself. Our reports include calculated measurement uncertainty, accounting for variables like environmental conditions, master gauge accuracy, and the resolution of the unit under test. This data allows your engineering team to establish safe guardbands for critical part tolerances.

Comprehensive Wear and Damage Inspection

Our onsite calibration services at DynaCal are more than a numerical check; they is a full physical assessment. Our technicians inspect measuring faces for burrs, nicks, or oxidation that could scratch your parts or cause inconsistent readings. By identifying these issues during the calibration cycle, we help you extend the operational life of your most expensive precision tools.
